A bit more on the interaction between people with powers and normal people, not only powered people having fun together.

I think a large part of what makes them special is how they feel being surrounded by people that are different from them.

Now, the only normal people are almost just Mohinder (that is also special, especially their blood), HRG and Claire's family, the Irish and Ando, all of which of the special nature of the Heroes and are simpathetic with them.

Now, we see Maya's black eyes and that produces yawns and the sensation of 'No!, not other more!'. Compare that to the first episode when we saw Claire jump from 20 meter high. The special is now too normal.

There are bound to be many more added as time goes on, and that's what 'Heroes' is about, the only problem I have with having so many Character's is having enough airtime to tie up lose ends, the series isn't going to last forever and when there are this many characters and I'm sure many more to come if they don't kill some of them off and they just fade away like Claire's mom did or the invisible guy in season one, then we're left with lose ends, those drive me crazy.

I still wonder what happened to the Russian on Sopranos.

If what they've been doing is your idea of fun, you're weird.

It's an adventure show, not a romance. Also, we've seen plenty about how they feel about being different. Most of them aren't too pleased with it. Also, since the plot this season is 'who is killing the older generation off', there is bound to be more interaction between powered people than with the unpowered, since the killer is unlikely to be an ordinary person.

*rotfl* I wouldn't call the Irish mobsters sympathetic. They want to use Peter, not be his friend. The fact that you don't see others doesn't mean they aren't out there. This is just where the focus is right now. Have a little patience.

Again, it's a show about people with powers. What did you expect?

I might add that I'm not having a the same reaction to Maya as you apparantly are, probably because I'm willing to wait and see what the writers/producter intend to do with her instead of thinking she should immediately be important to the plot. That's just not the way it works. This is a serial, not just a series. It's a lot more like a soap opera than it is like a comedy, for instance, where the plot is all taken care of in one show. If that's what you'e expecting, you're going to be doomed to

Claire's mom, as far as I could tell, was only important as an introduction to the fact that Claire was Nathan's daughter. That's why she faded into the woodwork afterwards. Just because she's powered, doesn't make her a hero.

Sorry, no idea. Never watched that show. Not that I'd know if I did, from what you said!

I'm not expecting that. Why would I? What has my comment to do with the fact of Heroes being a comedy, a graphic novel, a soap opera,... or with instant or delayed gratification?

My point is simply this: the Heroes' cast is crowded with powered people. And this makes us wonder less about their powers, care less about their characters, or even follow less the action, because when you have too much of something you lose the perspective of their real situation (that they are a tiny minority and if there is a plague, or there is somebody killing them, they could become extint). Besides, is bad from the narrative point of view, because the plot is fractures and cannot encompass all the 'main' characters, so we have Peter-less, Maya-less or Claire-less episodes. Why would you care about Hiro's fate, when he only appears randomly and not in all episodes?

As long that there is somebody that coincides with me (and I know there is) I can use the 'we'.

Because the problem of the crowded cast was already there in season 1.

I said 'I follow less' not in sense of 'I don't understand', but in the sense of 'I'm not interested in what happens to Hiro, so I don't watch attentively that part'.

doesn't mean that no one can.

And this, what has to do with what I said? Do you think that a show has more depth if it has more characters? Is that your idea of higher level?

[snip]

Powers or not has nothing to do with how sympathetic they are.

No perspective is lost IMHO.

Thats the writing not the fact that the majority of the characters have

Because I may be forgetful at times, but I'm not forgetful enough to totally space off a favorite character. My question to you is, why would you stop caring what happens to a character just because they aren't on the screen every week? Do you stop caring what happens to your parents, siblings and friends when you don't seem them for a couple of weeks?
