I've scanned a few hundred posts here in the last two days without finding a single person say, to one or another degree, that Peter is other than a dummy. Does anyone at all have something positive to say about Peter's mind?
I wonder if Peter will survive next week's ep? With this unanimity, it'll be interesting to read what people say after the climax.

I don't think he's especially stupid or especially bright. The dude lost his memory and has to choose between people he doesn't know or doesn't remember too well and the dude that helped him realize that he had to get out of lock-up. The woman he loves is trapped in some future where people are dying by the thousands from some virus and Adam keeps telling him they're trying to stop the virus.
Even at the end of the episode when Hiro says that Adam killed his father, if you're Peter, are you really going to just assume that the guy charging with a giant samurai sword has nothing but good

He does know Hiro and should figure that he might know something else.

Not that I believe this, but Peter might be trying to use Adam to accomplish his own ends. So far, it got him to Victoria Pratt, then to the Odessa location of the virus.

Yeah, I have this hope that, since Peter can paint the future, visit the future and read minds, he can't possibly be this stupid, and is secretly planning something.
But it's just a hope. And it would mean that Adam must be far harder to dispose of than it seems, because Peter's powers can deal with Adam as far as we know him without batting an eye. (Especially if Peter learns the mind control that he has from both Parkman and Eden.)

Maybe next season they can change the name 'heroes' to 'how to manipulate Peter Petrelli'

No, I'd say 'Let me read your mind. Okay, now, Adam, let me read yours.'
We all know that old comic books featured two heroes fighting each other when they meet, but the characters in a show like this should really be smarter than that.

Why? Most people aren't smarter than that. Why do you expect them to be? They're not geniuses, they're ordinary people with powers.

[snip]
But that should be enough for Peter to ask Hiro to explain.

I don't recall Hiro giving him time to ask for an explanation.
