Wzup Peeps,

Does anyone know where to find the English editions of Graphic-Sha publishing's How to Draw Manga books (both the first book and the Female Manga Characters)? I tried looking at the bookstore inside the YaoHan plaza in OC but no luck (well they had some Japanese versions but no English versions though). I checked out eBay as well, but nope, I ain't getting involved in no overpriced bidding war, thank you =)

Does anyone know if these books are in stock at the bookstore in LA's Little Tokyo at YaoHan Plaza? If not, does anyone know how long it would take for them to fill special orders?

Any info is greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

Hello.

I checked Kinokuni-ya data base. I found 16 titles in 'How to draw...' series from Graphic-Sha but it seems to me all of those are in Japanese.

Are you sure that Graphic-sha has published English versions?

Sorry, I could not help you this time but if you give me more information, I will try it again.

Actually, I went back to the bookstore in YaoHan at OC today and they had the 'Techniques for Drawing Female Manga Characters' book there. That was the only English book they had in stock. All of the other ones were in Japanese.

Upon opening the book, I found out that there are a number (actually a GRIP! =) of books in Eglish in their Series of Manga Techniques:

-How to Draw Manga Vol. 1 -How to Draw Manga Vol. 2 -How to Draw Manga Vol. 3 -Techniques for Drawing Female Manga Characters (the one I just bought) -Let's Draw Manga: How to Properly Use Drawing Instruments and Materials -How to Draw Coloured Original Drawing -How to Draw Body -How to Draw Perspective -How to Draw Young Boys -How to Draw Manga: Compiling Young Love Story Manga -Illustrating Battles -Techniques for Drawing Bishoujo

That's 12 books, all in English. I checked out Graphic-Sha's website and none of these books were listed (only the Japanese ones). Well, I least I found one book to start my collection...I'm gonna check out Little Tokyo in LA sometime this weekend to see if they have some of these other books there.

Too bad I just can't walk into a local Barnes & Noble to pick them up =P

Thanks for your help though...

Hello.

Let me know the ISBN of the book you got. I want to check it.I think it is possible that Graphic-sha sold the copy right to a company in US, and the US company translated and published. If this is the case, you can pick up others at 'a local Barnes & Nobles'

ISBN will tell us.

You are very welcome.

'How to Draw Manga Vol. 1' has been translated into English. I have it here in front of me (it's in the Viz Shop-By-Mail catalog)...

ISBN: 4-88996-042-2 UPC: 9-784889-960426

Publisher: Graphic-sha Publishing Co., Ltd. 1-9-12 Kudan-Kita, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 102-0073 Japan

Distributor: Japan Publications Trading Co., Ltd. 1-2-1 Sarugaku-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 101-0064 Japan

I'm going to be doing a review of it at some point for www.j-pop.com, and Julie Davis did a review of it for ANIMERICA awhile back. I don't know if we currently have any copies in stock
