<snip>

Yes, 12-year-olds without any humour. Does it bother anyone else that we have a complete set of characters who are always grimly focused and unlikeable? Not unattractive actors, just unlikeable and flawed characters with off-putting foci. I cannot find here what I want: a cental (dare I say?) humanistic core to this series. For instance, whatever else mars the current manifestation of Flash Gordon, it takes a tongue-in-cheek view of itself and its origins; I believe could use some lightening up, and some real drama, in contrast to episodic and intense confrontations in Heroes. This series has lost me. Anyone else?

I totally agree.

The surprisingly stupid:

Peter Mohinder

The amazingly unlikable:

Sylar Maya Alejandro Noah (once he became a cold-blooded murderer) Monica Elle

Besides Hiro the only characters capable of saving this episode, Nathan & Matt, were absent.

She saw a video of Bruce Lee. Why didn't she just whoop on them?

He's comic relief.

And Peter went for several episodes not wanting his memories back. And Claire wants her memories erased too. Shades of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

Hah. Angela is one to talk about people turning bad: the pot was calling the kettle black!

What do you expect her to do? Put on spandex and track down people for the FBI?

Well that would make one less driven, unlikable character, wouldn't it? D.L. had to die so that Monica could be introduced. Also the constant 'Is this Nikki or Jessica?' questions from DL were annoying.

I also think that the series is targeting a younger audience with West, Elle and Monica all introduced this season and Nathan barely appearing at all.

And she hugs her son. How does she know it isn't contagious? Because Suresh told her it was? He also thought his blood would cure her.

Is he? Why did they store sample 138? Why didn't they destroy it? In fact, even if they thought it was safe in 1977, they should have it destroyed now that Adam's out there: they shouldn't have to be told by Suresh that it is dangerous.

This hasn't been explained yet. He should have Eden's powers at the very least but perhaps he just wasn't able to figure out how they worked. The company must have done something to him to remove all the other powers. The virus? Did the Haitian just make him forget how to use them? It's true that Peter having powers when he had no memory contradicted what we learned in Season 1 about Peter's being able to access powers when he thought of the person he got them from.

True. But the original series in the seventies had everybody acting like genocide is a reason to party.

Now *that* is a show that could use some humor.
