Maybe he's just not intrested in doing any of that.... There are some smart people out there that are more intrested in things other then science....... He may be one of them........

Perhaps because he either isn't any good at doing those things, or doesn't enjoy doing those things, while he does enjoy and is good at what he is doing.

That's my whole point - people with great minds often have responsible principles as well. It's a shame for a genius to choose a frivolous career, simply because he doesn't 'enjoy' moe important work. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
