That's the basic error. Logic has nothing to do with emotion.

What your emotions are dictate what logical course you then follow. If you have emotions ('This country is starving' then your logic follows that mindset ('We've got to help them', if you don't it follows another ('Let them die, then the problem is solved forever'

So what's logical for one guy is illogical for the next guy.

Er, no. Logic is logic, whether you agree with the premise or not. In the case, the premise is 'other people starving is bad.' Any person trained in logic must reach the same conclusion from the same premise, even one they don't agree with.
