Hello,

in search for more nice Japanese illustration art, I came upon this Tarot deck: <http://artoftarot.com/himiko.htm> You can see some cards here <http://artoftarot.com/himiko.jpg> and here <http://artoftarot.com/himiko2.jpg>.

I also found this deck listed on a Japanese site: <http://ha2.seikyou.ne.jp/home/myamo/tarot/cards/ tarot_6.htm> and <http://ha2.seikyou.ne.jp/home/myamo/tarot/cards/ aito.htm>

The deck is called 'Moonprincess Himiko Tarot' on the ArtofTarot site. The reviewer conjectures that this deck is related to some Japanese comic, but has no real information about it.

Do you know a 'Moon Princess Himiko' manga or anime? Can you read the name of the artist and/or author of that deck? Is is it a manga artist?

Apart of all these open questions, I can only affirm that this Tarot deck looks indeed very nice. Any opinions on the art?

I first looked for the title Moon Princess and I only found the one from Kakinouchi Narumi. But I don't think it's her because...

Well, the name Kasai Ayumi is mentioned on the page you direct us to. There is a manga artist with the name Kasai Ayumi. 笠井あゆみ

There are two works that she has published, one Y2700 and the other Y3107. I don't know for sure but looking at those prices it must be art collections.

The art? Looks nice. I must admit that it is not exactly my style, but it is well done.

May I ask you where you looked this up?

I tried my luck at <http://www.books.or.jp> and with the encoded name in Japanese that you provided, I was finally able to enter her name, and get one page of results: <http://www.books.or.jp/ASP/srch2.asp?seimei=%8A%7D%88% E4%81%40%82%A0%82 %E4%82%DD&disp=500&ttp=KANJI>

I found some other additional 'Kasai Ayumi' link, this time in Chinese: <http://www.hkid.com/people/lunatic/ayumi.html> But one can click on the images for larger versions.

Plus <http://web.comichouse.com/annly/color/color003.htm>

I agree with you

As someone has already mentioned, the artist name is Kasai Ayumi. The name sounded familiar to me. No wonder. It turns out she was one of the seven artists invited to an exhibition held at Museum of Fine Art, Shiga, earlier this year, which I went to. According to the exhibition catalogue, she is an illustrator and manga artist but it seems she has got more emphasis on the former. Also she apparently does her manga in a completely different style from her illustraions. Her illustrations were really colourful and pretty two dimensional. My impression was they were modernised ukiyoe.

PS. The exhibition was entitled '7 Artists of Japanese Contemporary Fantastic Illustration' and included people like Takada Akemi and Inomata Mutsumi. I went to see Takada-san in person ^_^
