Non-HD version of last episode posted to any USENET group?
I've been out of the country for a while and missed the last episode. Looking at the binary newsgroups, I can only find a few instances of HD copies of it.

Has anybody seen a posting in an SD format? Otherwise, I'm going to have to scrounge up some HD->SD conversion utility.

[I know I can watch the episode on my PC from NBC's Web site, but that's not the way I watch TV]

So you're saying you don't want to watch it on your computer at all? SD Format??

Anyway, best I can come up with is an avi/xvid I reposted to <alt.binaries.multimedia.scifi) on 5/22........

Yes, and Yes.

OK, found that. But, the filename does say 'hdtv.ws.mp3.xvid' which initially led me to think it was some HD format, but looks like Nero's conversion utility can handle it just fine.

Hi Bert, when the file name says 'hdtv' it just means it was captured from the HDTV signal. If it's posted in HD resolution it'll say either 'HD' - 'HR' - '720p' or even 'H.264' in the file name.

I'm pretty sure Nero Vision will happily convert HD xvid's to DVD anyway, assuming that's what you wanted to do...

Aight cool, glad you could use it........As GDS stated, it's captured from an HD source but posted as a smaller res avi.....Some are actually quite good and a 'to' DVD conversion yield quite nicely....At least just for viewing, I personally don't save them as DVD's........

Yes, it converted quite nicely; in fact, the video quality was among the best I've run across from a USENET post recently.

Some day I'll cobble together a system for multi-media distribution in the house, but 'til then it's sneaker-net from the PC in the den to the TV in the bedroom

Great, glad to hear it..... ;0)

I have an enormous library of xvid's that I convert personally & mostly upload them myself to the usenet binary community.....But, I have yet to get off my lazy ass & buy an avi standalone player...(LOL) No need for converting anything, burn straight & pop into the player.....If done correctly looks great on anything under a 32' TV I feel......But I've had people comment that my 'personal' conversions look great on their HD TV's........

BTW: I usually repost all episodes of Heroes in abm.scifi either the same day or next after airing.....They are originally posted to ab.m but the group is so enormous I do it just for convenience to others in a smaller group.
