Since Hiro has managed to jump back six months, and over 300 years, it's possible that they are both dead, and they will be back next year.

When Peter first exibited nuclear powers, he didn't know anything about them, outside of his future visions. Also, he read Matt's mind without knowing that Matt had that power.

Not true. He used Ted and Matt's powers without prior knowledge. He hadn't seen Claire heal herself before using her power. He even healed himself from apparent death when Claire pulled the glass shard out of his head.

On the other hand, he probably wouldn't spontaneously use Linderman's ability to heal others.

In both cases when he exhibited the power, he was in the pesence of the original power bearer, which is the key.

And there in lies the key. The powers he's exhibited with out knowing about them have been auto-powers.

So how does a person know about their powers, unless they can spontaneously happen at some point?

The premise in question says:

1. Each Hero's own power can arise without their knowledge. So, for example, Nathan flew away from his accident without knowing he could. And Peter began absorbing powers without knowing he could.

2. If Peter is in the presence of someone with a power, he can use that power without knowing he has it. HOWEVER,

3. After that person leaves, Peter can only use the power if he knows he has it.

I am not saying I do or don't believe the above. I'm just saying that that's what M. Halbrook (and others) are arguing.

And what about his ability to dream, i.e. that he dreamt that he could fly. Where does that fit in with all this?

Either Peter picked it up from someone (some think this may be Charles Deveaux's power) or it's part of his native ability. Personally, I think it's an aspect of his native power - he was having prophetic dreams long before he started mimicking powers.

Yabbut... If Deveaux were an empath and had met Eccleston's character, he would have had the invisibility power he implied he didn't. I suppose it's just barely possible they never met, even though Deveaux obviously had some connection to the Company, what with him knowing Dragon Lady Petrelli, and them using his building.

In the episode How to Stop an Exploding Man when Peter flashed back in time to talk to Charles Deveaux his daughter Simone mentioned the pigeon coup that suddenly appeared on the roof. Charles told her she should leave it alone.

Seeing that it was Claudes pigeon coup I would assume that he and Charles Deveaux met at some point before the start of the series.
