Psst, Heroes, THAT was how a solo villain vs hero team fight should go
|
|
|
It's long been known that the show HEROES was inspired by and pays homage to the long history of superhero comic books. However the big climatic showdown between Sylar and Peter & his super friends was a bit underwhelming.
Comic books have had a long tradition of super fights, from a solo hero versus a team of villains, a team of heroes vs a team of villains but what of the uber-powerful supervillain versus a team of heroes? Which ones could and should HEROES have looked to for inspiration?

Who says we didn't? Just because SHE THINKS she's fat, assuming she wasn't just teasing Micah with that comment, doesn't mean she is.

Exactly. There was a scene where she was talking on the phone looking like her 'default' self when Micah wasn't watching. When it was time to talk to Micah she shifted to Nikki. Why present as the brunette if she had a 'real' shape? Did she prefer something she thought she looked good in as opposed to her 'real' shape? Then why not stick with Nikki and avoid any possibility of being accidentally discovered by Micah?
There was also a scene where she was unconscious and the rest of her illusions disappeared. She reverted to her more familiar form.

In order to fight together as a team, first you have to train together as a team. A bunch of strangers, who've only recently met, and only a couple of whom have had any sort of combat training at all, are not going to be able to do it.

Heck most of them don't even know each other.

I don't think Molly, Micah, DL and Nikki/Jessica, Bennet, Suresh and Partman even had time to exchange names.

But that's COMMON in TEAM super hero comic book origins:

Not to mention that Nikki had no reason to side with Peter against Sylar. That's something that's bugged me about the finale more than anything else. Parkman knew Peter and Sylar, so he had motivation for targeting Sylar (despite being the stupidest thing he could have done). Claire had been attacked by Sylar previously, so she had a reason to be involved. Nikki? She didn't know either of them, she had no reason to step up except, I suppose, as an excuse for Peter to suddenly acquire superstrength maybe (he started punching the crap out of Sylar soon after).
The audience shouldn't have been expecting a super team showdown with Sylar when half of the 'team' has no idea who Sylar is, or who Peter is, or the whole Exploding Man/Kensai Sword subplot. That the writers teased us with it all is bad writing.

I know I wasn't expecting a super team showdown. I was just pleased that so many of them got to be there for it. I expected it to be solo.

The best that I could come up with is that Molly told DL, Niki, and Micah about The Bogeyman on the elevator ride down.
