What I got so far is that Molly and Matt agreed that his father was the Nightmare Man. Nightmare Man mentally has Molly after she agreed to search for him. The wounds on Mrs. Petrelli were self-inflected when she was isolated. So I'm guessing that Kaito jumped.
Whereas, Matt can read people's minds, and the Haitian can manipulate their memories, Daddy Parkman can manipulate them into action.

The similarity of powers has little or nothing to do with genealogy. Although, I'm wondering what gaijin Kensei has to do with the modern day generation of heroes. Since his power is regeneration, I don't see him being able to get people to inflict harm upon themselves like what's been happening to the elder generation.

Why does everyone think the wounds were self inflicted? Did they give some other evidence? When I saw that segment of the episode it was like she was being attacked by an invisible force that was beating and cutting her. Either the invisible man, a telekenetic, or the ability that Sylar has to cut people's forehead open...or all three.

They said her wounds were self-inflicted. They leave very different marks than if someone else attacks, since elbows are a limiting factor. She could have very well believed that her worse fear was attacking her, and she scratched her self crazy trying to get it off

He implied that he can also read minds. Sounds like he's some kind of mega-telepath. Given the constant borrowing from the X-Men throughout Heroes, think Professor X.
