Tim Kring is off the show

Bryan Fuller was picketing Warner Brothers with the entire writing staff of PUSHING DAISIES. J.J. Abrams picketed alongside the producers of LOST. Reportedly, Tim Kring wouldn't comply with a weekend rewrite that would tack a season ending onto the last script written and is now off HEROES.

The article details a large number of writers, showrunners, and even actors from popular shows striking. The studios will start feeling the pain shortly.

That's ok. We will be downloading a lot from the internet, t hat should keep us occupied. Maybe, we will even start reading books for a change.

Not likely for the many, many people whose creative and artistic sensibilities are dampened and suppressed by media overall and TV in particular. An increase in interest in reading would be a welcome consolation, but with so much TV and so many movies to watch and re-watch, that's rather an unlikely consequence.

I'm disappointed that Kring is off the show. Presumedly, that means, off for the duration of the strike. So many sci-fi shows started out really great and turned very bad when financial imperatives overwhelmed artistic concerns. Hopefully, the strike won't last long enough to utterly ruin Heroes. It seems to me very likely this will be a protracted strike. There are intimations of perceived injury and insult and vengeance compounding the great battle for money and the great desperation of the people who are going to suffer financially, great and small alike.

You'd think this desperation should make everyone try to reconcile and promote some good will.

Tim Kring, a producer and writer of the NBC hit 'Heroes,' said he had to revise the ending of the show's 11th episode on the chance that it might be the last one to air this season.

'Fortunately we were able to hustle back,' Kring said from a picket line in an effort to shut down the show. 'The audience won't be left in a lurch.'

'able to hustle back' - that sounds to me like they told him 'If you don't do this you are fired. Got it mister?

Lets not forget he is a producer as well - and the producers are not supposed to be on strike

What do you suppose that means? Hurry back to what? To accomplish what? To revise the ending and reshoot? To avoid doing that? With the report that Kring is still with the show, it probably means he modified the ending.

Unless of course they are also writers, and members of the SAG, which I believe is the case with Kring.
