According to the timeline from the first season, he's going to get cut some time before dystopia hits. Though I don't really see *how* he can get a giant scar, seeing as he has the same super healing Adam and Claire have.

He still had the scar in 5 years later which was the timeline when Peter saved/met Claire but didn't stop the explosion.

The writers will find, like many before them, that trying to maintain continuity in a future/past time travel tale is like trying to stomp a viper on ice wearing high-heels.
